With their trademark raw energy and humour, Arabesk are one of those rare groups that effortlessly speak through their instruments, engaging the audience and allowing them to step into a world of rhythm swinging in all directions at once, sometimes classical, sometimes gypsy, flowing into Afro’ beats and tangos.
Arabesk will lift your spirits with a touch of tango, reggae rhythms, jazz flavoured funky beats and even a traditional waltz! Australian songwriting award winners (2011, 2017) and finalists in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition, Arabesk have been bringing original Australian music with their own special brand of global grooves to audiences since 2003.
With three studio albums and one live album in the bag, Arabesk have performed at many major Australian music festivals including Blue Mountains Music Festival, Wangaratta Jazz & Blues, Hobart's Clarence Jazz Festival, Palm Creek Folk Festival, Manly International Jazz Festival, Nambour Winter Jazz Fest and are playing Stonnington Jazz Festival May 2020.
They have performed at Takatsuki Jazz Street in Osaka, Japan on three occasions and returned to Japan to play at Asagaya Jazz Street, Tokyo in October 2019.
Arabesk are Veren Grigorov (violin), Yannick Koffi (guitar), Calvin Welch (drums) and Rory Brown (Bass).

"If you haven’t seen these guys live yet you really have missed out. Anchored by Chris Frazier on double bass and by guitarist Yannick Koffi, drummer (and voice of the band) Calvin Welch gets to provide some extravagant flourishes as well as nailing the beat to the floor. And that’s before we get to violinist Veren Grigorov. Mild-mannered and approachable off-stage, he is the dynamic core of Arabesk’s on-stage image." - Neil Doody, ArtSounds FM (Canberra, September 2019)
