CHARCOAL is the brainchild of Cameron Barnett, a Sydney musician/producer who loves to combine the music of the past with the spontaneity and endless possibility of the moment.
Inspired by sample-heavy free-download acts such as Gramatik and Pretty Lights, Charcoal gives jazz, folk and world music a 21st-century twist with low-temp beats and live instruments. The result is eclectic, groovy and has something for everyone’s tastes.
This performance will see Charcoal debuting a batch of original tracks in a relaxed part-DJ-part-live setting. Think Girl Talk collaborating with Benny Goodman and you’re on the right track. Visit his web site.
"On Saturday night we came by for a drink and saw Charcoal play. He was fantastic and wanted to get in touch about whether he might be available for (our) function" - Sylvie, patron of recent performance at 107 Projects Redfern
"Hi Cameron, I was at your gig at 107 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was wondering what you fee would be to play at a casual dinner that I am organising at the University of Sydney?" - Michelle, another patron of recent performance at 107 Projects Redfern
