Overview
Russell Neal is a singer-songwriter who has been performing in pubs and clubs around Sydney and at folk festivals around the country and overseas for more than 18 years. He writes songs that are funny and serious - occasionally both at the same time, ranging from ballads, to blues to up-tempo pop.
Russell is passionate about live music and organises events under the banner of SongsOnStage. These events include singer-songwriter nights (SongsOnStage), band gigs (BandsOnStage), covers and tribute shows (ShowsOnStage) and Song/Band Contests (SongQuest/BandQuest).
SongsOnStage events have been held at the Basement, Vanguard, Notes, Camelot, Lazybones, Brass Monkey, Dee Why RSL, the Gaelic Club, Lewisham Livehouse, Cat & Fiddle Hotel and over 100 other venues around Sydney. Current venues include Paddington RSL, Harbourview Hotel (the Rocks), Town & Country Hotel (St Peters), Cammeray Golf Club, Kellys on King (Newtown), Manly Leagues, Gaslight Inn (Darlinghurst), Gladstone Hotel (Dulwich Hill), Picnic Point B/C, Brush Park B/C (Eastwood).
